Okay. . . Let's back up a little. Determining suckishness is a judgement call. It is only an opinion. Millions love it the way it is. Those millions are great people. Also, if you are not a Christian, you won't likely go for any of it. You can't.
1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Now, having said all that, to my personal ears, and the ears of many, I think much Christian music does suck quite badly. Let me explain why.
Many Christians think deep tones and any drums in general are satanic. Maybe they have heard music from ill-mannered groups who play that kind of music, or it reminds them of godless cannibals getting ready to feast on people; so if you play music that way you are the same way. That is not how it works. God invented the airwaves and every tone you could ever hear. He never bans anyone from making hard rock. I love hard rock. Not so much the lyrics usually associated with it, but the music itself. I am not satanic or being sinful by liking it. Instrumentals of any kind are never satanic that I can think of. My lyrics, on my songs that have lyrics, are worshipful or evangelistic. All pro-God.
The only thing God says related to this that I know of:
1 Corinthians 14:8
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
That means if you are going to do it, do it well. Put it out there. Don't put some lukewarm whiney stuff out there. Jesus was no wimp. He was the toughest person to ever live. We are in a real spiritual war where bold action is necessary. We don't want people to go to hell.
Going around wrongly calling people satanic or saying their music is of the devil hurts the cause of Christ. That is satanic. Ooopsie.
What is the message of the music? That determines if it is satanic. Hmmm. . .so what about a lot of pop culture? Does it help God or Satan? More importantly, what do you listen to?
